Chateau Bigfoot (red box) and the house next door belong to the small sub-division on the other side of the forest (top of pic). The other homes belong to what I describe as the HOA from hell. This year, they passed a rule limiting Christmas decorations to a single strand of "tasteful" holiday lighting going no further than the front of the home.
When wifey and I first heard this, she looked at me and said "they're going to be able to see our house from the space shuttle this year!"
She doesn't belong to the Northwest Chapter.... but she should.
Hey Polar bear, isn't this the same HOA that banned putting up the American flag for the 4th of July or something to that affect?

HOA rules can't over ride local state and federal laws with their rules though. Just like when they try to ban satelite dishes. I won that battle with the last HOA I had. I'll never have another HOA.
Its funny when I got home from work yesterday my neighbor asked me if I had a ext ladder he could use to hang his christmas lites.I let him use a 8' A frame ladder and he was out there after 9:00 lastnite and it was in the 30s and I dont think he is finished,to me its just a little to early to hang my lites if I put them up at all this year.
bigrig that video is from last year, although I hadn't seen that version of it before. it's taken from a different angle and closer up, I also found some of that house with other songs bieng played. But that place did get shut down by the cops for bieng a public nuasance last year.
Wolfman01 - A cheap wind generator would be a single post alternator hooked up to a small windmill - using 12 v. lights. There are sets of lights for semi-tractors & several sets are availible in LED's now. Some are flashlight-battery powered. One of the simplest systems use a couple small dutch-type windmills hooked together with bicycle chain driving a car alternator. { My 1st model of this type was made from a 16" bicycle wheel ] The "mills" have sails and are solid mounted > turn the same direction any direction the wind blows. I've built scale models till I found a design that works. Your local library should have several books for DIY. If you have enough wind to fly a kite - there is potential for wind power. Wind and solar together make an unbeatable combo. The meter on your house will run backwards if you make a surplus and the power company HAS to buy it from you. (You buy retail / sell wholesale) The most space needed is for a battery bank, controler, and an inverter.
