I was poking around trying to see if i have a vacuum leak.
Between the firewall and the intake i found a pipe dangling. it is metal and about 1" in diameter. It looks like it went into the tailpipe don't know if that is right or not. the other end comes up and then a device is there and has vacuum lines hooked to it.
ANY IDEAS and would this cause my problem of not starting very easily the first time of the day.
My Cats are gone and this may have hooked to them?
okay is this going to hurt not being hooked to the exhaust? the cats were taken off and this just dangles
This should go up to pipe hooking to the back of both heads, you need to plug these holes and take the AIR pump off.
You also need to remove the vacuum lines and plug them going to the two AIR solenoid valves.
okay how is this going to affect the running and anything else?
You may have a vacuum leak with the AIR solenoids.
This could also be an exhaust leak into the cab if the holes are not plugged.
The AIR pump can also lock up or put a load on the engine.
will everything else be the same, no change to egr or any other emission stuff?
also you say remove the pump, what about the serpentine belt, how do i know what length to get?
There should be three solenoids together near the Ignition Coil, the vacuum line should branch to these three solenoids. Just take the main source vacuum line for these three and put it on the EGR solenoid only. The other two solenoids are for the AIR system for controlling the air to the cats.
You can leave the pump on and use it for an idler if you want.
