Question FE Id

I am trying to identify a FE engine that I recently obtained. It has the 58 352 cast in the left front corner but I can't find any other casting numbers on it where they should be. The intake is a 2V with cast number C9AE and the exhaust manifold has a number C8AE. Any ideas?

Well the heads are 1969 or later and manifolds are 1968 and later.

Welcome to FTE!

If you'll measure the stroke length that would narrow it down some. Pull a spark plug and probe the cylinder with a piece of wooden dowel that will fit through the plug hole. Mark the dowel at the top and bottom of the stroke and measure how far the marks are apart. I don't know for sure if it helps on FE's, but you can also measure the deck height. That's the distance from the center of the crankshaft to the center of the head gasket.

and also, if you look between the 2nd, and 3rd spark plug, there should be number cast on the heads, should be something like "C8AE-H", or something similar, but w/ different letters/numbers. Let us know what it says.
