Another dumb question?

Hello again fellas, so far I asked some questions about my damn tranny, now i have another question but this time its about some sorta air ting on mt passengers inside fender over the wheel well. It doesnt have a hose connected to the end of it , and what it does is spert out air all the time. I dont know if it suppose to have a hose on it or if it needs a cap or what. my truck is a 92 f150 auto e4od. I can find anything about it in my manuals.

If it's the one that is mounted across from the front of the engine, I think that's the silencer/intake air filter for the A.I.R. system. It should have a heater hose sized hose that runs off the end over to the air/smog pump and a second hose off the side for the inlet air. There is a second cannister further back that looks like a quart sized canned food tin that is a vacuum reservoir for the egr and has 2 small vacuum lines running off it.

Gustang is correct. It's nothing more than a silencer for the air coming out of that hose. The computer controls that air by either directing it into the catalytic converter or into the exhuast ports in the back of your heads. When there is an abundant amount of air in the system, a valve opens and allows it to escape out that hose you're talking about.
