Just a quick introduction, I am MarkoStephano, and I found you all as a result of a random Goggle! I hope to learn and share with fellow F150 folks, mine is a '86, a bit rough, but its my work truck. I just bought it this last August, and i love it! It is my first full-size "pick 'em up truck", and I really get a kick out of cruising down the rural roads of Wisconsin, and just listening to the wind whistle thru the vent wings1 Mine has the modest, yet economical 300CID, Inline 6, with a 4 speed manual floor shift. I hope to little by little fix her up nice. I am pretty handy with a wrench, and enjoy solving and fixing old stuff. ( I run my own business, restoring old airplanes, I mean really old ones from the '20s and '30s). Well I look forward to reading all your threads, as I am nopt at all familiar with Ford trucks, and I hope to pick up some good info & make some good friends!
Thanks Matt! My first mission is to finish buying the required hardware to change out my bent up 1987 tailgate with a proper new (1986) one. The current '87 has no latch handle so I have to grab the latch rods with a pair of vise-grips and yank like heck to get the gate down-plus it is so banged up it is impossible to latch it securely. I bought a proper year(1986) Taiwan replacement tailgate from JC Whitney, along with a latch handle, but now I am finding that all of the latches/mechanisms from the 1987 can not be used with the '86! Do you know where I might order the proper parts online? Do you have a favorite source you can recommend? Thanx again!
