Question Light law question

I drive a 97 F150 Lariat 4x4 w/ factory fog lights. I am currently thinking of adding a set of aftermarket fog/driving lights to my truck. I am wondering what the law is about lighting. I won't be running the aftermarket lights with the factory fogs when they are on.

im not sure on the law, but if you need more light, swap out your factory fog bulbs and upgrade to a higher wattage bulb. I did this on my 99 f-150, and i had to make a little modification to the bulb but it was worth it, lots brighter.

Thanks for the reply. I really am looking for the easieness of running the fogs with parking lights. I did find a mod to get the factory fogs to run with the parking lights but don't want to do that since I have a remote start/ keyless entry that flashe the parking lights.

I ran an aftermarket switch for my fogs so i can run my fogs without my headlights, very easy and fast to do, email me at fordx499@msn.com and i can give you directions on how to do it. With the way i ran my switch, i can go back to the factory switch in less than 10 seconds so no major modifications needed.

As I understand the law, you can run 2 sets of lights at once, either fogs with low beams, or driving with high beams. Now I personaly run fogs alone as daytime running lights on the car. But as far as "the man" you will be illegal running fogs or driving lights alone during the night. Will you get pulled over for it? Maybe. When I get my new Buckstop bumper, I will be running aux lights instead of the heads, I may get some grief.
