Muffler removed....

OK, so I was about to cut out the stock(HUGE) muffler and install my 40 series Flowmaster, when I was thinking about a thread I read a couple weeks back. is300wrx posted about removing his flowmasters and how good it sounded straight piped. SO...I cut the old sucker out and welded a piece of pipe to the stock exit. I thought it would be stupid loud and raspy but I was wrong. It actually sounds good. Not very loud either. I almost want to leave it like this. Anybody see a problem with that other than the noise?(obviously if it's too loud I'll throw the muffler on there) Those stock cats must really calm things down!

Did that to mine months ago, love the sound! No problems, still gets good fuel mileage. My buddy liked the sound so much he did it to his '01 F150 also.

My brother did it to his Dodge Dakota several years ago. Did it with less than 500 miles on it. The thing now has well over 100,000 miles and he has had no problem. It sounds good, Just a little louder than I wanted so I had a Magnaflow muffler installed.

I have heard it may cut down on some of your low end torque, but I cant confirm that.

Probably does depending on the vehicle, although mine seemed to pull a little better, noticed it towing the race car/trailer. I just added 4' section of pipe to replace muffler so pipe still goes out behind the rear wheel. I tried it in front of the wheel but didn't like the sound, it resonated.

i had a glass pack welded in place of mine instead of straight pipe, and mine pulls better too, feels better in the low end

I am glad I can help out. The noise, as far as cabin drone, is just as bad as Flowmaster 40s. Good luck.
