1994 f 150 4.9 auto. I have the timing marks onthe rigth side of cover (driver side) however; when I put the ligth to set the timing the harmony mark shows on the left side (pasemger side) of cover where it's something like a saw blade with sharp tooths; Well this is what I had been using to set the timing ( no numbers). This weekm I change the timing cover seal and notice the timing marks on the other side of cover. The truck has been running okay, But I has never been able to set the timing rigth. I can set it so It runs but it's never rigth.
I did notice when I put the balancer out that it has like a punch mark on it which is the one that I see with the ligth and it has like a square missing on the edge; you know ; factory made about 1/8" wide; but I don't see it with the ligth.
Anybody knows what wrong with this picture. It's the distribuitor off? Thanks
I had the same problem. You time it from the left side looking at the front of the motor.
The deep V notch is ten degrees. I had to rotate my lower hose clamp to see it clearly.
Don't ask me why there is one one the right side too. You can make it easier on yourself by going under the truck,Turn it by hand until it lines up with the notch. Then just put another mark on the right side.
