Question about SCT

Hey guys, for the stock ford tune, do you have to download the stock tune into your SCT or is automatically downloaded when you load a custom tune??

Automatically uploaded and saved to the Xcal/Xcal2 when you load in your new files; all you need to do to return to stock is select the option to do so.

If you are going into the dealer for work YOU have to upload the stock tune from the programmer to the truck so if they flash it they don't lock out your tuner. Once you get the truck back, if they didn't flash it, you can upload the custom tune of choice.

If they did flash it then you will need to get the new stock tune downloaded to the programmer and a new set of custom tunes loaded to reflect the new factory tune.

Got it?

They would probably ignore you and flash it anyway. A good SCT dealer will take care of you in this respect. I wouldn't worry about any of the new flashes. Done correctly they actually improve performance and reliability. The SCT easily takes care of programming concerns on the new flashes.

It is up to you. The point is you have to return the truck to the dealer w/ the stock/factory tune in it. If you don't, and they do flash it, then you are locked out of the programmer and need to see a SCT programmer to fix it. If they don't then you just reload your tune of choice.

You know if they flash it as there is sticker they put on the frame, by the drivers headlight, under the hood

Thx 4 the info, I see that the stock tune is downloaded into the sct once the new custom tune is uploaded into the truck. One more thing, the directions say that u have 2 disconnect the fuel pump and electric fan fuses, is that true or can u just download the tunes into the truck

is there any truth to the fact that the new 05s or 06s can tell if you have had a tuner hooked up or not, even if you have returned it to the stock program when taking it in?

This has been discussed in length before, just use the search function on the menu bar.

Bringing it up again will only start the flame wars again.

talk to your techs, if they are cool like mine they will tell you to just be honest with them and they wont have a problem with mods... They will have no evidene that you have a tuner but they do know

psd 60L i have read it in other threads but i don't believe anyone has come out to say whether it's true or not, or maybe no one knows for sure.
i wasn't trying to start any arguments. but it's been some time since i last read about that and though maybe by now someone had something new to add to it. sine there are a lot of 06 and 07s out there now. that maybe weren't out when discussions were going on.

Wink Don't think so . . .

My dealer doesn't seem to know about it. BUT I haven't had any real engine issues that would require indepth discussions on warrentte work either . . .

on the other hand a guy I know has had these issues and uses a the SCT and they have honored all the work so like mention in all the threads it is up to eck dealers approach to them I am guessing . . .
