Question 4.6L Valve Seal Replacement Tips

I've got a '94 4.6L with 96K miles that's puffing blue smoke at startup. Using about a quart every 3K miles. I understand the valve seals are the likely culprit. My question is, how much work is required on this engine to replace the seals yourself? Is it just a matter of removing the valve covers (replacing the gasket going back on) or do you need to pull the cam or other innards to get at the seals? Any tips or things to watch out for?
Also, we've been running Pennzoil 10-30 in it. Should we use something different?
Thanks!

You need to pull the valve covers, cam followers(rocker arms) and with the proper spring compressor and either compressed air or rope in the cylinder to keep the valves from dropping, remove the valve springs (one at a time) to access and replace the valve seals.
