Highway RPM's

I'd just like to know what is an acceptable RPM for highway crusin. I have a tendency to be a little heavy on the skinny pedal and damn its not my fault the cruise will set at 85 MPH. Is runnin down the highway at 2600-2800 RPM a bad thing for the engine???

With my 4.10 axle gearing I can "cruise" around 3000rpms doing 85mph. I have seen 3200 rpm and a pegged speedometer a few times . I think it likes it, but I just dont like the 13-14 mpg when I go that fast.

The 7.3 psd is different, but nothing compared to the newer diesels out.

Keep reading and asking questions and you will learn all you need to know

I usualy try to do 60 - which is a hair under 2K =) 65 is right at 2K I believe with the c5 4.10 axle. When I get my 38s I might be willing to do 65 =)

97 has 410s and 96 has 355's. I have not ran it up to 4200 in OD with the 3.55's, i think that would be close to 160 mph lol. I did however manage to lock od out while drag racing and bounced it off the 4200 rev in drive until i figured out to push od lock button in. highest ive ever had the 96 in od was about 3600 and beleive me that was plenty fast.

yes my rev is bumped up in my 96. I would not run a stock engine up that high, it will prob not last. The engine in the 96 is no where near stock so running that high occasionally wont hurt it.
