Why is it always me?
I have A 53 F 100 with a 351 W - the charging system has gone south.
The truck has been rewired with ?? wiring kit and after I checked the alt out - I started to look for the regulator. can't find it - not under the hood - not under the dash - nowhere.
I replaced the alt (only) about 4 weeks ago and until now AOK as we say down here.
I have a duraspark II ignition and the module has two sets of wires and 2 connectors coming out of it. It is the module with the blue gromets and a white wire (on the two wire connector) is not conected.
The thing is running good with this wire NOT connected.
Could this (as the parts guy said) be my charging problem?
What do you guys think??

Why is it always me?
The white wire is supposed to be wired so it receives a 12V signal when the ignition switch is in crank mode. The module then knows the engine is starting and it retards the ignition timing just a tad to make it easier to start. It is somewhat an optional circuit. Nothing to do with charging system.

Thanks fenders - it did not make sense to that the module would be tied into the charging circuit.
Any idea how the builder may have not used a regulator? I remeber that Ford did use an integral regulator in the late 70s but the alt was an eyeball match 2 wire?

I would recommend you put this post in the electrical forum with more specifics regarding how your alt is wired up. There may be some electric gurus here too but I know for sure there are some over there. Gonna need some details in any case.
