I am getting the Quadzilla, for simplicity purposes. I like the fact all my temps and readings are in one spot, but also like the pillar ones too. anyway
First of all, I am not one to tow Heavy loads, partly cause I dont have any heavy trailers to tow.
My question is which temp reading should I give up to use for my Veggie tank with out having to buy one more guage for that. is there a less of two evils. I know Temps and reading are important, but is there one I could really do with out as long as the ohter are good?
I was thinking Trani. temp, but any suggestions would be nice. I am sure there is the ones that say just get the extra guage. which will cost more money and another wire. but I just thought I would ask.
this site really is helpful and I thank you all ahead of time.
Thanks

2000 F-350 4x4 Crew 149k miles. only thing I have done is AIS, and 4" MBRP turbo back. will get the Quadzilla chip when I get the guages in.
I am wanting to use one of my temp gauges for my Veggie oil tank temp, instead of some thing the guages are intended for. Just picking folks opinons, but I think eventually I will get one for the right temps. I am just trying to save a little $ at this time. that is all. I know there all Important.
What you can do is get another temp .sending unit and run a SPDT switch to the tranny gauge. I did that on my Auto meter tranny temp gauge. Depending which way I flip the switch, I get tranny temp or engine oil temp. I installed an LED which lets me know which temp I'm reading.
Works great! Just be sure to the same sender the gauge came with and all will be ok.

What temps are you expecting to see in the Veggie oil tank? We all know the expected temp parameters of the tranny oil.
well the Oil will be heated by the engine coolant, and will be heated along the way, so around 100 to 180, but I doubt I will see 180 cause that is a lot of oil to keep that warm. it will be warmest at the draw point. with a heat exchager and more coolant hose to keep it warm will it gets to the motor. and having this motor I guess is the one of the best motors to convert. Go Ford. lol
also are the Quadzilla digital guages and chip ok? I have read a some good and bad. just curious. got a good deal so I went with it.

Nothing to discuss on the chip and gauge package. So whatever sending unit it comes with for the tranny, I would use for the Veg but don't expect much movement, of course this is on an analog gauge. The digital may be more responsive. I would be curious about your readings when you get it up and running. If that works, I would do as previously recommended and get another and a switch.
Gets pretty cold on Montana. Hope that VO works for you.
Yeah it gets cold here, but the guys I have become friends with have been running almost a year. and he has screwed up one motor by shooting butter (cold WVO) into his motor. so we are taking EXTRA measures to prevent any thing like that. hence the guage for temps.
I really like the Idea of a switch between the two temps. but will have to look into that and the digital guage if its capable.
thanks guys for all the Idea's and info.
this site rocks.
