My dad has a 2004 F350 and everytime he hits a sharp bump there is a clunck underneath the cab. In his driveway I drove it back and forth over a piece of firewood and could feel something hit the floor with my left foot. We crawled underneath and can't find anything that could be hitting. It is something that is loose and is bouncing and hitting the floor when hitting a sharp bump in the road. We are preplexed.
Sounds like a loose body mount bolt on the driver side front of the cab. I believe you have to pull the capret back to tighten it. While you are at it, you should check all the bolts.
I have a clunk that sounds the same as the OP. I believe it's the body mount after reading another thread on here.. I've checked the swaybar and it's fine. I would describe these clunks as small... It doesn't feel like a ball joint or something with a lot of weight on it. At first I though it was just the seat brackets. And it only happens going over bumps or under HARD braking...
So anyway, point is, deffinitely check the body mount, that's good advice.
The reason I say body mounts is I recently drove a truck that had this same clunk. I checked the sway bar, spring bushings and ball joints. All were good.
Mine has the sway bar(s) removed, and I encountered the world famous "clunk". It was the body mount(s). Tightened the crap out of em, and have never heard it again.
