i say just leave the dst and call it standard time, i like having the hour more of sunlight at the end of the day. who cares about having it early in the morning.
i think its here now days just because of tradition.
i don't see how it effects businesses considering a person works from what ever time to what ever time, doesn't matter what time the sun rises or sets.
That 2 six packs of beer last night may have had something to do with it...
oh dude, no kidding, i hear ya. went to bed at 2am DST and woke up at 7 am new time. went home, and started halter breaking 600lb calves, you have no idea the fun, as i write this, however, that lack of sleep is seriously catching up to me, and i have a mere 5 pages of blueprint reading left to do.
That's been suggested more than a few times; supposedly, the people in the northern part of the country don't want their kids waiting for school buses in the dark so it ain't gonna happen anytime soon.

I live in the northern part of the country and some kids get picked up at 6:30 am and is dark then the whole school year.
It appears FTE fell forward. The posts used to read the correct time, so, if the site hadn't changed at all and only my computer 'fell back', then there would be only one hour difference, but there is now two hours difference.. I think this happened last time too. and I adjusted my location by two time zones to compensate for it, until it was corrected, then put it back to normal.
Hmm, it appears that one can no longer change one's time zone to compensate.

Makes me kind of grouchy, too. I've never needed an alarm clock. Half my clocks and pc are automatic, half aren't. One clock in the living room wasn't set the last time, so I got up and knew what time it was... (Not really, I still had a moment of confusion.)
Now, everything is set, except the clock in the kitchen. I might just keep that room on DST.
Oh that would be fun, like having a time zone line running right through your house!
Does anyone here live close to a zone line, like you're in one time zone but the other side of the street is in another time zone? I bet that could get confusing when setting a time for a party or dinner date. (Good excuse when you're late to something though...!)

I was looking in the wrong place. You can mess with the time zone in User CP > Edit options. It acts strangely though, you may also have to click or unclick one of the DST buttons, that's the only way I could get it to show the correct time.
I saw the same show where that researcher said that there has never been a study to see how much, if any, energy is being conserved with DST. Now on the other hand he stated that people use more gasoline in the evening hours when DST is in effect.
I read once that it would also benefit farmers who are in the fields late in the evening although I don't see how because I have seen them in the fields after dark. Tractors have lights, at least the one's around here do.
I remember back in the 70s when it was in force year round because of the oil shortage. I say go back to it and leave it alone.
