Need 5.0 EFI advise
OK, here's my questions.
First, do I have Speed density or a Mass Air setup? How do I tell? I am not new the the 302's, but the EFI is a new animal for me. What will it take to switch it to Mass air if thats what needs to be done? I definitely want to keep the EFI.
Can I go with the B303 (or will it be E303 with the AOD) and possibly GT40 heads with the factory intake, or will the intake need to be switched out?
What should I look for in the GT40 heads? I have seen some on Ebay, but I am not sure what I am looking for, or, should I just have my stockers redone?
I am not necessarily on a budget, but I am trying to build this whole truck myself and save as much as I can.
Any advise you guys can give will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bill
If you don't have the meter, mass air convesion kits are available, or you could source parts from a scrap yard and DIY.
Even the stock intake should support 250HP, but you certainly can get more with other intakes. The late model 5.0 explorers had cast GT40 intakes, as well as the GT-40 heads you are looking for. Both these are good upgrades over the stock 5.0 pieces.
The 5.0 truck intake is another option, but it is taller than the car intakes so that could be an issue. The HP potential for this intake is an unknown quantity, but if runner volume is any indication is should work pretty well. The Holley Systemax intake looks to be a very close replica with a car style upper.
