i'm having problems with my fuel guage so i have decided to change out the fuel assembly how do i go buy doing that??? wat steps do i need to take?
how many bolts do i have to take off.
You need to drop the skid plate, and unbolt the straps. You will also probably have to unhook the gas lines which requires a special tool. Needless to say, you should have the tank as empty as possible before doing this project. Are you sure the problem is the sending unit, and not the guage?
If you have access to a Haynes or Chiltons manual, those are the instructions I've used when dropping my gas tank. They were adequate.
When you get to disconnecting the fuel line at the top of the tank, I found the plastic ac/fuel line tools available at Autozone completely worthless. I ended up getting a fuel line disconnect tool (looked like a double ended pair of pliers) from Napa that worked a lot better.
how would i know if it's the gauge?
i have the hayes manual but i can't seem to find all the bolts to the skid plate.
i'm lost in that department i bought myself that double ended tool just in case but it doesn't explain how to use it.
