motor problem

I have a 302 out of the car and i'm putting a edelbrock carb and manifold when i took the old manifold off i could see water on top of one of the valves the motor was rebuilt and has 1000 miles on it any ideas about the water

How long ago was the motor last run? Your water could just be condensation. If you have the motor out, do a compression test. It could be nothing or a cracked head/gasket.
