E4OD in 68 F250: anachronistic twists

Wow. This could be quite an undertaking. Not impossible, but a good challenge. Since the E4OD is electronically controlled you will need to incorporate an electronic fuel injection for your 460. I would suggest that you find a good donor truck (if you haven't already done so) from the early to mid 1990s to give you the computer and wiring loom with the sensors that send the signals needed by this tranny to operate. Shift linkage will also be a sub-project. Some malign the E4OD, but properly built it is a great unit. My 95 has 340,000 miles on it with nary a problem.

A search of this site's technical articles will also be helpful. But even more, you will want a wiring diagram to help put it all together.

Swaps that take newer technology and put it to work in classic vintage vehicles I find particularly interesting. I wish you well in this endeavor & look forward to hearing of your progress! Could you also post pictures at various steps with relevant descriptions? This encourages others in such projects.

dn.

There are a few companys that make transmission controllers, http://www.compushift.com/compushift.htm
http://www.becontrols.com/products/electronicscat.htm
http://www.powertraincontrolsolution...content-4.html
here Are the ones I know of.

I am in the proccess of installing an E4OD in my 79 right now, so far its been pretty easy to make the harness. You dont need any kind of Fuel injection, you can just adapt a TPS onto your carb. easy to do.
