As much as I have been spouting off on this forum in the last couple of days, I have yet to make my y-block go. One of the first things I discovered when starting to ressurect it was that it wasn't getting any fuel. The fuel pump is indeed bad, but that's not what's bothering me. As soon as I got it out, I spotted this welded "build up" right on the end of the arm where it rides the cam - about 1/4" maybe. I can't figure out what would make someone do that - unless they thought they had a bad or wrong arm or something. But the arm matches the new one exactly so I still don't get it. I reached in to feel the eccentric and sure enough something felt loose, so I pulled the timing cover. Yes it was loose, due to too long of a bolt I think, but as it is keyed it should still have been operating properly.
Anyway I have a new pump to go in but I'm still kinda wondering what is going on here. Any theories?
Also how tight should that bolt be when I reassemble? Locktite?
Thanks in advance for any insights.
Andrew
