My truck just started doing this today. It acts likea gas motor, you know how they load up and lose power and then just about the time I go to let off the fuel it smothes out again. It dosent seem to matter if Im going up hill or not. I changed one fuel filter, but no one has the 2nd so I had to orded it. I dont think it would be the fuel becase I ran the back tank down to 1/4 and switched to the ft and it got to about 1/2 and then started acting up. Could it be becase it is cold out 36 degrees.
Two filters that's new, there is one filter above the fuel pump RT front and a water separator by the booster/fender/firewall. Did you drain the water separator recently....
if it was runnng ok on the rear tank and acted up after the tank switch, you might have a broken pickup tube in the front tank and drawing air in the fuel system. If you had junk in the tank you may have picked up some in the fuel system and got it in the injectors. Use a lot of fuel additive/cleaner and see if it helps. I noticed you have the fuel turned up, did you do it recently? Perhaps yo missed the fuel door gasket when you closed the door after adjustment. Have you put fuel in the rear tank and switched back to that tank and try it ?
it sure sounds like dirt, air intrusion from switching the tanks.
if its that cold out then the switch will sometimes stick i have changed many out over the years it will go almost but will hang up and allow air from the return side to enter sometimes will try to draw off both tanks and just return to front also try some dk gray this has the addtive that will help ya know anti jell cause diesel will sometimes start to jell if temps are below 30
You called what I called a fuel water seporator, but there is no drain on it. I stopped this smorning and got some fuel aditive and that seemed to straten it out and I did notice when I took the cap off it had a vacume like the tank isnt venting I wonder if that could be the problem
