I changed the IAC valve today because of hard starts. Before, it would start and die start and die. I could give it a little gas and it would run to get going, or peck a little on the IAC valve to temporarily fix it. No codes would come up. Now after I changed the IAC it runs High and low and comes up with a P1506 code. Un known powertrain DTC (manufacturer controlled: vehicle speed... The rest of the details are cut off of my scanner tool. Any ideas?
Yes, after I did this it codes P0171 and P0174. System too lean on bank 1 and 2. Now I am really lost. It still idles high and low from 400 to 1500 rpms in park and dies to trying to runaway in drive. any help?
P0171 and P0174 have been posted here as a common problem about PCV elbow that leaks. The said elbow is about the same area where the IAC valve is, so it's possible you have a rotting elbow and you somehow 'touched' it while working on IAC valve and made any impending leak/hole worse.
Search the board for PCV elbow or P0171 and P0174, there should be a lot of information you can use.
Personally never had this problem, and in fact, tried hard to find this elbow and couldn't find it, mine seems to have a straight reducing rubber connector and not an elbow in the general area described above.
