flatty and tranny
Hello Ford helpers! I have a Flatty from a 51 hvy biggie (F6) that I want to use in my Rod project. I would like to use an auto tranny, but not hung up on it. Any advice on what I would/could use behind it, if an auto, if a standard? The tranny with it now is a 4 speed (I think) and likely without modern gears etc., which I am not sold on using. oldrodder43

Your flathead from the F6 is the same one used in the half-ton pickups. Lots of adapters to mate them with most any tranny. C4 is the auto of choice. T5 from a pre-88 ? S10 is the manual of choice (mechanical speedo and shifter is in a good location for bench seats). Speedway Motors and the ones listed by Mike above is where I'd start
