Has anyone used the superchips flashpaq on a 5.4? It claims like 27hse and 33 lbs torque increase. How does this happen, does the computer change the timing and air fuel mixture etc...? Will it void the factory warranty? What will it do to fuel mileage and are you required to run 93 octane. I have never used a chip before so any info would be great.
i want the same thing for my 06 f250 5.4...troyer performance...from what i hear on here is doing great things with the 5.4...give them a call and see...look in the left side of your sceen and scroll down to troyer performance
I have a custom tuned Xcaliber 2 from Troyer Performance. Customer service is great and he can get more out of the engine than the flashpaq. They have a group buy going on until 10/31 so the cost is probably less than the Superchips Flashpaq. I highly recommend them!

Good questions. I'd like to know the answers as well.

Thanks for the info, I will definately call on Monday. I actually have the same truck that you do except its an 05. How much did the xcaliber 2 change things and did you have to make other mods as well? I use my truck for plowing, towing and everyday use and was hoping for some more torque and hp.
To get the best performance from it, you will have run the highest octane available. An engine is a big air pump. Shortened up.... yes, more timing, maybe slightly off or later stoich fuel trims. Fuel mileage is a function of your left foot. Theoretically, your engine will be more efficient so you should have better economy, but it never seems to work that way.
On a side note, the engine being an air pump. Cold air kits usually produce more power than tunes, especially canned tunes. More air in, more air out and then more fuel is my train of mods. If you don't have more air flowing in/out, the extra fuel will not do any good.
Save your money, I have spent it and it's not really worth it unless you like paying for premium fuel, and having a better shift pattern. I still have mine in, still pay for premium and really don't know why. Save your money and spend it on gas.
My Mod list is very extensive, and growing. It's worth every penny if you like to tinker. If you need more torque you need either lower gears or lost of money. As I said, think air pump. Get a cold air kit, exhaust, headers, a good tune and keep up with the maintance and you'll have a little more. I have the above and 3.73 gear with 35" tires and I can sucessfully get out of my own way.
