So if and when i find a junkyard that has 390 crank and rods laying around is there a way to tell if they are what he say's they are? i dont know much about this so i dont want to pay to get the wrong parts..
i'm in chicago..And it says it has fresh regrind of 20 rods..20 mains.. wet magged .. oil gallies camphered and micro polished.. heavier counterweights for torque and no cracks or welds.. so would the work done cover the higher price? oh and is 2U a 390 casting #?
The price is kinda steep but the seller Vern is a ok guy. The last 2U I sold was for $35 to a forum member. It was a pretty fresh .010/.010 that just needed a polish to be perfect.
Well G, I dont know about VK ? maybe you know him better than I do? But I have seen him sell the Kids supposedly 428 blocks..that in actuality were Punched out 390 blocks...JMO...
And I also think thats to much change for a 390 crank!! Let me check with a Buddy of mine..He may have a standard, that can either be Micro polished to clean up ? or go 10/10......
Check out Pops on ebay..he has 390 cranks for $75 and $65 to ship....I would either email or call him and find out if he has one that will just need a Polish? Or 1 that will clean up at .010"

Well thats good if you take your time and let the parts come to you....Now I know I have at least one at my cousins shop.. I was building my motors there as I havent built my shop yet? hopefully this year? as I recall...No cracks and Might needed to be turned?
I havent seen it in about 6 months..But there not Ford guys ..so I know it should still be there!!
well i mentioned in another post that i really dont know much about motors, aside from the basics. So what's the difference between a 2U and 3U? I've also seen std/std , 10/10 , and 20/20. What does this mean? Sorry for my ignorance on the subject but i'm still learning! I thank you both for the offers, but if i can i'll probly snag one off Baddad if they're ready to go.
