Engine stumble at speed

99 F350 CC 7.3 auto 4X4 99K miles

Yesterday driving down the freeway all of a sudden got a quick jerk like feeling as tho I ran over something. On my way back some 100 mile later did it again??? So today it did it while I was pulling a car trailer. At first I thought maybe my tranny was going in and out of lock up real hard?? Then when I was coming to a stop signal it just shut off? Started right back up. So what I figure is happening is it shuting off and on causing a huge slack and whack on the drive line and that is what is going on. I am gonna go throw OBD on it to see if its throwin codes? Nothing shows on the dash? Any ideas?
In advance Thanks

Sounds like the classic CPS dying. Sometimes you will get a code P0340, P0341, or P0344 but not always. Look here for fixit tips http://guzzle.rbmicro.com/cps.html . Ford will try to get 200 out of you for it but they can be found on Ebay for 60ish

Cps

I checked and sure enough its not throwing a code. But the symptoms of the hiccup are right on! I was wonder if this was the cause? I thought it would show me a code and like you said sometimes they dont. Maybe catching it early?
Thanks! Much appreciated!

Sometimes cleaning the connector and possibly putting some di-electric grease in the connection will help seal better. These are finagle-y (sp?) sensors and sometimes can be a pain.

I've experienced this situation last summer and fall. Definitly the cps.

The cost if off Ebay about $60 to $85. My cost? Over $1100....wouldn't start, bought cps at Auto Zone, changed it in cold pouring down rain, still wouldn't start. I pulled it to a local garage, they knowing I just put in a new cps, ran tests, (came up as bad cps, but it was brand new). Installed new isgnition switch because truck would start and run at one position in the slider. Gave up and I pulled it to a dealership 70 mi away (because local dealer who performed all the warrantee work told me I should take it somewhere else). They ran tests and changed cps.....worked just fine.

Hmmmmmmmm, idn't dat somtin!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still pissd......but life goes on.

Just tryn ta help and give back to this forum.
