throttle body cleaning ?

Hello yall, I have read quite a few post about cleaning the Throttle body and the MAF(something like that). My question is, Do I remove the Air Filter hose leading to the TB and just spray the TB Cleaner right in??? or Do i have to remove the TB?? If I just spray it right in,, will the cleaner not damage the Engine any?? Thanks for your help.

Make sure you use 'catalytic converter safe' cleaner. Remove the air intake hose, prop open the butterfly, and spray the plate and behind the butterfly plate. Be prepared for the spray to come back at you. Cover anything that might be damaged before spraying. Some fluid will probably run out onto the top of the engine. Let it soak for a while before starting the engine. The engine may run rough for a bit if the plugs get wetted.
If you have passages for the IAC, you can also spray in there to clean the IAC a bit.
