Inventory Days Supply
The latest research shows that the "normal" 60 days dealer inventory info is totally skewed. Gm's supply is now at 94, F at 105, and Chrysler is 126. Dealers are complaining to high heaven about these bloated inventories. All the while, their floor plan costs are rising. A toxic mix indeed. The "head honcho" from Autonation which owns more than 170 various dealerships states that the "Big 3" need to do 2 things to alleviate these woes. RAISE incentives and cut production. The latter have alreeady been announced. The former needs some more "work."

It was times saimlar to these that killed off two giants of another industry. Ever hear of International Harvestor(IH)? Or Allis Chalmers(AC)? The companies kept producing despite hat peple quit buying. The large invetory had to be cleared and they offered huge incentives (seem familar) the company could not afford the incentives. AC went belly up and was bought out buy KHD of Germany. IH was bought out by Tenneco.
