Strange problem

Strange to me anyway as I'm not much of a tech...

While driving my late model '99 to the dentist this morning, I noticed the ABS light was on, the speedometer/odometer wasn't working and the overdrive light was flashing. The truck runs, shifts and starts fine.

I hope you guys can help me. After spending all that cash at the dentist, the diesel shop won't be seeing any of my money for a while!

Sounds like the VSS sensor on top of the rear pumpkin, inexpensive part if you DIY.

Well, it started raining early so I'm not working. Having time to search the site, I believe you're right. The VSS sounds like the culprit. I also learned that I have 2 wheel ABS. I'll call the parts store and see if they have one in stock.
Man, FTE has saved me again!

check and make sure it's plugged in, I've seen them come off.

Well, the local NAPAs didn't have it (RABS... ingnore post #3 above!) in stock so I had to order the part. Got it this am and installed it in the parking lot. Everything works a-o-k! Thank goodness for this website! Just wondering........ how much this repair would have cost at the dealer??
