Block heater

How do you know if your truck came with one? Looking at the manual It points to the D/S fog light for the plug, should it be hanging there or tied up in a harness somewhere? 2002 7.3 PSD CC.

First look above your oil filter if you see a big wire coming of there you have one, then you will find the plug around the area between your fog light and the tow hook drivers side, just feel around in there.

Is this "big wire" sort of orange and coming out of the housing that the oil filter screws into? Also what is the round electric motor looking thing coming off of the housing facing forwards for?

That "electric motor looking" thing is the oil cooler. The cord is hooked to the block heater follow it forward till you find the end. It has a 3 prong plug with a cap over it. Pull the cap and plug it into a 120v outlet. Use at least a #12 wire extension cord especially of the cord is more than 10-15 feet long. The block heater is rated at 1000 watts.

Between 8-9 amps so you should be fine.
