Gear ratios
I have an 84 f-250 with the 6.9 diesel. the rear is a 10.25 sterling. does anyone know what the factory gear ratio is and if you were going to add a locker what gear ration would you go with.

You need to get the axle code from the door tag, as there were 2 to 3 ratios available in that axle. Deciding what gear you want depends on what you want to do with the truck, lockers don't affect that particular decision. Pulling heavy all the time, but not minding being slowed down a bit (4:10 gives a top speed of 77, 70 recommended) or if you want efficiency more, or if you are running out on the trails, or what...
