Got An Injection Problem, Help!!!
I Work At A Salvage Yard And We Ordered An Engine In For A Local Shop, They Put The Engine In And Couln't Get It To Run. I Got Them To Bring Me The Truck. If U Pour Gas Into The Throttle Body It Will Run Fine, But The Injectors Are Not Feeding The Cylinders. I Have Checked Everything I Know To Check. I've Got Fuel Pressure, It Is Firing, I Have Checked Every Ground I Can Find, I Have Even Ordered Another Computer In And Tried It. According To My Customer, The Old Enging Was Running, They Pulled It Into The Shop, Swapped The Motor, And Now This Problem. The Only Thing I Know Left To Check Is Crank Sensor Ring. I Know That They Had The Timing Cover Off Of This Truck, Along With Some Of The Timing Components, Balancer, Etc. I Am Wondering If They Might Have Left The Ring That The Sensor Reads Off Of, Off, Or Did Not Install Properly. I Am Told That This Is What Sends The Signal Through The Computer , Intern Sending Fire To The Injectors To Open Up. My Customer Is Convinced That I Orderd In The Wrong Engine, Got Him A Windsor Instead Of A Romeo, And I Have Checked Everything I Know To Check, Vin #'s, I Even Had To Order Him A Valve Cover In, And According To The Dealer, They Are Type Specific, Romeo Or Windsor. Any Help, At The End Of My Rope.
Start out by taking a voltmeter to the injector connectors. With the key on, there sould be 12 volts standing on one of the leads. The other is pulsed to ground by the PCM (while cranking/running) and gasoline from the pressurized fuel manifold is squirted in the intake port.
If either the standing 12 volts is missing, or the ground pulses are missing while cranking, then definately trace the wiring from the injector harness back to the firewall.
