1990 F150 temp issues
Hey all, first i want to thank anyone who is taking the time to read this.I have a 90 f150 with a 4.9 and the tem gauge never rises above the very beginning of the gauge it comes up from stone cold to where the normal range starts and thats it never any higher. Im getting pretty crappy gas mileage and was thinkin its probably because the trucks running cold. I tried a new temp sensor that i had laying around from a differnt project and nothing changed I guess the next step is a thermostat but I would appreciate any advise anyone has. thanks .

I had the same problem on my 1988 I6. I changed thermostat, flushed rad, even so far as to install new fan cover and water pump(just cause i was getting P.O.ed and had no more ideas) but i never did get the stupid temp to rise into the normal range. My mechanic had no answer either, so it might just be one of those things. About the crappy mileage, try changing the air/fuel filters. I find that to be the culprit often
