Decoding vin #'s II
)Best I can tell this poor truck spent the last part of it's life as some sorta tree service truck.(it was donated to a local vo-tech, avioding a long story, I wound up with it for the princly sum of $150) Anyhow, I seen you guys do a bang-up job decoding the vin on a '59, could someone do mine? My vin is f1068d19253, the color code is L, prod date 24f, trans A, axle 01, and wb is 118". From what I can tell, it was light blue.(under the 3 other colors) Does anyone have any good sources for parts for these? Thanks!
Let's start with your Vin number:
F10 .........1/2 ton Conventional
6 ...........Are you sure? There should be a letter instead of number there ("J" = 223 six cyl., "K" = 272 V-8, "C" = 292 V-8)
8 ...........1958 Model year
D ...........Dallas Texas assembly plant
19253 .......Sequential production number
Here's the rest:
Color L ...........Azure Blue
Date 24 F .........24 = 24th Day of month / F = June first year production (1957).
In other words, your truck was built on June 24, 1957. (1958 model year production began in 1957).
Trans A ........... 3 speed standard transmission
Axle 01 ........... 3.70 rear axle gear ratio
W.B. 118........... 118" Wheelbase (8' bed)

I hope this helps you.
