Flathead motors
FYI, in a lot of literature, you will find the flathead called an L-head, which is the correct technical term ( because of the shape of the cylinder and combustion chamber together ). It's just one of many other types of ' underhead valve ' designs that are gone.

nice motor grant.
as for my last post i wasn't thinkin of the motor.
i was thinking of different thinks and i over looked the cam shaft in my flat 8.
i got one flat i had ta junk because i got it with my truck froma junk yard and it was one big mouse nest and it was stuck for good.
even the machinest said to get a new one.
the other thing that was wrong with it was my dad put a chisel through the piston wall.
but i got a new one and it is stuck but ill get it free when it comes time.
im workin on the frame and cab right now.
the motor will be soon.
but im sorry i over looked the cam shaft and i appologize.
im glad someone caught me and corrected me.
as for us younger people who work on newer cars, i got a 49 f-1 and a 89 f-150.
my parents got a 98 expedition and a 91 sable.
i dont like working on thier cars because there is no room to move in there.
my trucks have alot of room and i can get to almost everything easily.
i perfer working on older vehicles anyways because they have less electrical and more motor.
but thats my perferince.
