Lightbulb Reverse Lights

I know that this is not the proper forum for this question but i have had great responsives and greatly respect everone who hangs out in the 6.0 forum. I have a 2004 F250 6.0 and i added two catapiller skid steer lights under my bumper for plowing, did not have fun backing at night with the factory tinted window. I hooked them up to the trailer reverse light circuit. not worred about over draw because none of my trailers have reverse lights and i figured this way if i back in to a snow pile and break a light or short one out i will only blow the trailer reverse light fuse and not the truck fuse. My problem is that i want to hook the lights up to a switch for hooking up trailers and stuff at night. I was not sure if i should use a relay to isolate the lights from the truck wiring circuit or if i could just apply 12volts the the same wire. I would think that the power would back feed to the shift select switch and possabilty indicate to the computer that the truck is in reverse

I would put the lights on a seperate circuit with a fuse and switch, wouldn't have to worry about problems with the truck electrical system. You'd also be able to run a proper sized wire from the battery and not worry about overheating the truck wiring.
