And viola, mower deck is ready for another season! I love my mig welder. BTW for those considering an inexpensive welder, this was done with flux-core wire (i.e. no shielding gas, bottles, fittings, or regulators necessary), an SP135 Lincoln Electric, which is a 120V welder. Plug in, weld, fix things!
I used to work for a rental company and we rented a honda 3813 rider and every time it came back the front of the deck would always be smashed in to the blades so I finally got tired of banging it out with a hammer and welding rips we took a piece of 1/8" flat plate and wrapped the whole front of the deck with it and then took a piece angle iron and wrapped the whole lower edge all the way around kinda looked like a cow catcher when I was done.No more bending the deck but I had to build heavier mounting brackets as people would still hit god knows what and started ripping the hangers off the deck LOL.
