e 350 won't start

My 96 e350 351 cu in van won't start. Everything is new-cap, rotor, wires, plugs, filters. You can hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key, it fires but will not keep running. It does this every time now but was doing it off and on.Last year I replaced the ignition switch as it was having this this problem here and there but it did not fix the problem.Whatevers' wrong with it appears do have gone south for good. Before I get it towed any ideas out there?
Thanks in advance

Thanks Adventure the IAC was shot. I didnt know that you could clean them but it wouldn't have mattered- the old one was stuck shut and so far hasn't moved a fraction. As soon as I put the new one in- it started right up. Again many thanks.

The IAC-idle air control is a valve located on the air intakes to the throttle body that controls the idle on fuel injected vehicles. When it gets sludged up it can prevent a car from starting and really screw up the performance and idle characteristics of a
vehicle- I just learned this the hard way.
