I was wondering who here has more than one amp installed in their Super Crew?
I currently have one amp under my driver seat.... that amp drives my single 10 inch sub under my rear driverside seat.
I want to put an amp on the 5x7's but not sure were i should install it. the 4 channel amps are much bigger than the mono amps. and not sure if they would fit under the seat.
I have a 5 channel Hifonics where my jack used to be runs 500 rms to the pro box (with a single dvc infinity 10) and 50 to each corner speaker (infinity componets up front & 5x7 triaxials in back) It is large @ 16 inchs long & 12 wide (Will try to get up some pics so you can get an idea how it fits)
Ok.. I was thinking that, but Best Buy said there was no room in the Supercrew behind the back seat...( they didnt check) but theey said it didnt look like there was any breathing room for the amp it what they said.. i think ill have them install it and move both amps to the back wall. thanks biyagi! is that were you have your amps.
Actually I have two under my seats and had to remove the jack, I only found out later from a professional installer that I could have put them behind the seats.
I've been running a 6 channel kicker amp behind my back seat for 18 months with no issues. I also have all the control boxes for my strobes back there and everything is good.
Getting the seat out for the first time is a bear, then its super easy.
I put the jack and parts into the rear passanger door bottom compartment.
Let me know if you want, I can take pics tomorrow.
I installed 2 amps behind the seat and there is plenty of room!!!! I bought a 19' dual amp install kit from car toys for about $119. It was well worth it. You tuck the wires in the channel along the drivers side. I then ran all four speaker wires to the dash on the passenger side. I bought the install kit and wire harness from car toys for about $35. I did not cut a single factory wire. I bought some self tapping screws for the amps behind the seat. There is a metal mounting bar along the entire length.
So it cost me about $160 in parts, but they wanted $500 to install. I did get a dual 10" box that fits under the entire seat. It sounds awesome and a good quality amp will not over heat behind the seat. There is also 2 air vents behind the seat for the amps to breath. If you have any questions, I will be glad to help.
I was surprised at my first dual amp install with a speaker box and head unit. I went with the Ipod option. What a space saver!! I would have thought a professional installed it. There is no wires showing and all of the wires tuck inside the wire channels on both sides of the cab.
I have a 5 channel amp behind the back seat of my 04 supercab. Been there for 3 years with no problems. Ford says don't put an amp to close to the module that receives your key fob signals.
There are also fans you can install on amps that are pretty thin, they will help keep them cool. Also, put maybe a 1/4 inch spacer on the screws to keep them off the wall itself(or carpet) that will help keep them cool. lol
