Nutha General Question...

The elctrical hookup in the front of the truck. When plugged in what all does it service? Just the batteries?

Are you talking about the block heater?

it is the cord for the block heater. use it only if you are in a cold climate and your truck struggles to start in cold mornings. it uses alot of wattage, and makes you electricity bill go up. it is a metal heating element in the rear of the oil cooler that heats up the coolant, which in turn heats up the oil around it.

So it has nothing to do with the batteries then, strictly a block heater?

If I'm not mistaken, my heater also includes a battery wrap heater for the passenger side battery. If I remember correctly, I believe when I last inspected it, it was somehow connected to the block heater line.

In my truck the only battery that is wrapped or encased, is the aux battery on the driver's side?

I know of a friends neighbor that seems to have his plugged in a lot and I always "assumed" it was to keep his batteries charged because he did a lot of road time. But the heater I guess makes more sense especially for the colder lattitudes.

Interesting Reckless...the driver's side huh?

I just double-checked mine and it is the passenger side battery that definitely has a wrap around it. Before I replaced the stock air intake system last week, I would not have been able to tell if the driver's side battery had a warming wrap or not; at least not without removing part of the air intake.

I'm guessing the reason that mine only has a battery wrap on the passenger's side, is because the driver's side battery was encased in the air intake filter system.

I'm not sure if it means I have a "heater wrap" on the driver's side. I only know that it is sitting in a plastic cover/box of some sort with the cable connectors exposed, whereas the pax side seems to be just sitting in the open locked in, but not encased or overtly wrapped in anything (that I've noticed). Now, I would have to go back out and give it a thorough look over since I've never examined it looking for the heat wrap. Could be one of some sort I never noticed.
