I was actually thinking of driving both the Mustang and the ****** - the fuel savings would more than pay for the insurance. The problem is that I sometimes tow around 4,000 lbs, more than the s10 setup is rated for. The other problem is that these little trucks aren't the best for winter driving as I live in Michigan. I also enjoy the F-150 as it is a fullsize and 4x4. If I do stay with the fullsize, I'll get an F-250 diesel. Let me know your opinions.
i say the 1985 f150. the 1984 mustang was dog ugly in 1984 and is dog ugly in 2006, no matter how fast it goes. the ****** sounds neat and all, but it sounds no fun to drive and looks quite uncomfortable and is uglier than the ford anyways.
Stick with the F150. You can't beat one of those old 300 CID sixers. I've used my '88 F150 4x2 Six as a daily driver virtually since the day I bought it a couple years ago, and while maybe Michigan winters are a bit more... serious about it, shall we say, I've only got stuck twice, and one of those times was the direct of my own stupidity. Having a 4x4 would be a big plus, and it could tow your 2 tons fairly easily.
I would say either the f150 or the mustang. It depends on a few things. Mainly the condition of the vehicles and your preference. You may get tired of driving a truck around all the time as a daily driver. The car would be a much more comfortable/easy ride. Whereas the truck will work, and it wont be horrible, but not as comfortable as the car. Then i guess you have to factor in the winter driving factor. Thats the part where i dont know what to tell you cause its not every day it snows in florida. Personally, id take the truck because im not too crazy about the looks of the 80s mustangs.
Man thats a tuff one. I am undecisive and would have to pick two. So go with the ******* and the F150. Don't get me wrong the mustang would be fun, but I didn't like the boxed 84's
