Advice for a Novice?
Bought my used '99 7.3 PS 2 years ago. It now has 116K on it. I love the truck and have considered upgrading to improve power, performance, mileage - but I don't know where to start. How do I know what I need or want? What are my options? Are there any books or websites I can research to learn more about the available technologies? Chips, tuners, gauges, turbos, etc...I don't even know what questions to ask yet! Is there a "Consumer Reports"-type site where I can browse options? New to the forum, thanks for letting me in, I bow to your wisdom and counsel.

I'm pretty sure Bully Dog makes a 6 position chip for your truck. Getting an aftermarket turbo is an option, I've been looking into the ATS turbos lately, althought it will probably be awhile before I'm able to afford that step. Aftermarket exhaust would help as well, your truck might be old enough that it didn't come with a cat, if it did, just get a cat delete pipe, something that can be changed in 20 min or less if you do have to run thru some type of emissions or maintance at the dealership, although I don't switch mine out just do go to the dealership. I would suggest for sure 3 gauges, some might disagree with me, and thats fine, but I would foresee 3 gauges if you everything and that is egt gauge(without question the one no matter what you should get), tranny temp(especially if your going to be towing, but even if your not, it's good to have) and a boost gauge(if you do that aftermarket turbo). That's what I can think for starters, anything else just hollar and I'll try to answer the best that I can.
