o/d light flashing

o/d light flashing
hey guys i got a 96 explorer when i put it in drive it hesitates for a couple of sec. before enguaging it also seems to slip between shifts. sometimes the o/d light flashes sometimes it dont. i just changed the trans. filter and fluid and it still seems to do it. any ideas to what this could be? electronic shift maybe? im stumped!!!!!
