non Ford trans question.
We have a 1996 GMC Sierra 2500. It has a 4L60E trans. Dad is wanting to replace the trans (it's messed up again) with a 4L80E trans. Do any of y'all know if this can be just swapped in or is there a major amount of stuff that has to be changed. Computer issues we'd need to know about?
The engine is a5.0L V-8 if that matters any.

main difference is the output shaft, it is like a TH350 vs. TH400. The output shafts actually relate the same. If it is 4x4, then you would have to change transfer cases.I believe the plug is the same, but a visual inspection on that should answer that question.
