I just made a 347 Stroker out of my 302 and put a Centrifical Supercharger on it. I am looking for 1 3/4" diameter headers so this thing can breath and have been unable to locate any for a 1974 Bronco. I had a guy tell me that he heard of some guys using a Mustang header and was wondering if anyone knew what year if any would work for this application?
Most of the newer ( fox body) mustang shorty headers will not fit without some work. They dump on top of the passenger frame rail. What tranny you runnung in that beast? I really think you would be fine with 1 1/2 long tubes for the low end power. BC Broncos has some mid lenght headers that ran some pretty good dyno numbers.
I am using an AOD that has been modified. I have the engine over at a place called Motor Masters to have it dyno tested. He stated that with this blower at 10 lbs of boost I am going to need 1 3/4" headers for this thing to breath. I found 1 5/8" and they still told me to try and find 1 3/4". Thanks alot for your reply.
If you can't find any you might need to have them custom made to fit your Bronco.
x2. 90% of EB folks build their engines to make torque at lower RPMs (like my 408) so their rigs work well in trail and daily-driver use and so that's what the headers are built for..where the market is. You might try contacting Jeff Trapp at Bronco Graveyard..he knows something about the other 10% that are built for dune running and the like where the high-RPM motors are found.
