i have a 99 ford ranger 3.0l 4x4 and my wiper have to be the most annoying thing ever. they turn them selves on without me touchingthe switch and at times when im useing them, they stop working, out of the blue when im doing 65+...not good, i have to remove the fuse to get them to stop, naturally, and im looking for a remedy for this issue. i dont know if it is wireing, or the switch lever it self, something in the column, or what, don't have a clue, any help would be appreciated.. thanks~kram
I recieved a letter from Ford in 01 about this program for my 99 & it didn't list any exparation date for it. Some here on FTE in the past year or so have had it done at no cost. So call your dealer & inquire about it, to see if your covered or if it's already been done. Be prepaired to give them your VIN#.
They had problems with some connections at the wiper/turn signal (multifunction) switch... the pins were backing out a bit causing high resistance, and that was confusing the BCM, causing the wipers to come on. You might want to remove the steering column covers and make sure all the wires are fully seated.
Although I would check with ford first.. call them with your VIN and your symptoms... they can look it up to see if your truck is part of the campaign.
As Stan said, number of owners doesn't matter, what does, is if it's included in the program & if it's alrady been done or not, under the program.
To detemine if you may be covered, look up your VIN # & see if the plant & build date & how the vehicle is equipped, matches those vehicles covered.
If so write down your VIN # & give your favorite Ford Dealer a call, provide the VIN # & 00B40 program # & they can pull the vehicles repair history up on the computer & determine if it's been serviced under this program, or if it hasn't, does it it qualify, if it does you can save some bucks.
I have wiper problems with my 95 ranger. I have done some trouble shooting and found that the main post of the wiper on off relay does not have power with the ignition on or off or the wipers are on or off. The wire going to this post is dark blu with a red stripe. Can anyone tell me were power to the relay in the distributon box comes from?.
I think that I may have a burned wire or a blown fueable link but I dont have a wiring diagram to tell me where the other end of the wire goes so that I may check continuity.
I will check with the dealer tommarrow but in the mean time I need this right away.
