last november, i let the tank go pretty much all the way empty, to the point where it wouldnt start. ever since then, the truck will decide randomly whether or not it wants to start on the first try. (i bought it in october, so i wouldnt really know if this problem was happening before that, but the full month before i let it get to empty, i never notcied it). its never needed more than two tries to start, but ive replaced the fuel filter, put in at least 50 bucks worth (over the past year) of STP concentrated fuel injector cleaner, replaced a missifiring spark plug and wire, and still the problem persists. any adivce??
also, the overdrive button never has really worked properly since i got the truck, but overdrive has always stayed on so it wasnt much of a problem... until recently. twice in the past week, when ive started up, the light for it "Overdrive Off" came on, and i tried to turn it off, but it wouldnt go off until i shifted into drive. however, overdrive stayed off, even though the light wasnt on. i figured out i have to keep turning the truck off and on until the light goes off in park. any suggestions on how to tackle this?
Have you ever tried pressing the throttle a little bit while starting? Did it make any difference?
How about if you cycle the key from off to run a few times before cranking it?
