leaking diesel?

i have a 99 f550 4x4 with 7.3l auto. diesel is dripping out a tube on the front of the motor, the tube looks like a condensation tube on a ac unit and looks to be connected to the fuel filter. i'm thinking the fuel filter/water separator. tell me if i'm wrong, our driver is very concerned. <TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=547 border=0 valign="top"><TBODY><TR class=bgmain id=PartsRepeater__ctl2_ContentRow><TD width=10></TD><TD vAlign=top width=250><TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

From what I've read on other posts, it sounds like you have to change the water separator drain o rings. Do a search for it, and you should find where to get them aside from the stealership. Just try not to park in front of you own house hehe

Did you check the fuel filter's cap to make sure it is screwed on tightly? My truck leaked Diesel pretty bad, and I took it to the shop, and it was just that the dealer had not screwed the fuel filter cap on tightly when they changed the filter.

i'll check O-rings to see if there leaking from there, luckily all the trucks are parked behind the office. the cap was the first thing i checked but i forgot to mention it, it was too early in the morning caffeine didn't kick in yet.

Smile Leak

This seems to be becoming a common leak spot now that we're seeing more ULSD in the market. Several folks have reported the water sep drain valve leaking after running a few tanks of the new fuel. Luckily I haven't seen this yet but, ULSD isn't real common here yet. Stay tuned.....

I have the same problem. I came on here to find out how to change the valve myself. The dealership wants 172 (approx) to do it. The bad thing is, my husband is a mechanic and doesn't get home from Iraq for another month and a half! I hate to spend that much when I know he can do it with just the replacement costs for either the valve or the O rings. So, I am going to try to do it myself. Wish me luck!
