I've gotten a lot of good info off of these forums by just reading a lot but have been away for awhile. I need help with some advice. Can anyone give me their reccomendation for a software to hookup a laptop to do diagnostics of my truck's sensors and codes?? Its a 97 F250 Superduty with the automatic trans. The trans was rebuilt last year but now when it gets warmed up it sometimes won't to shift from first to second. It gets scary when I have somebody behind me at a light and I don't want somebody running in to me from behind, Or getting stuck in an intersection. If I letoff of the throttle and get back in to it. I can sometimes get it to shift but its a real pain in the ***. I'm thinking its a sensor. Or maybe low fluid but checking the fluid on the stick is difficult to read. Now I have time to start more trouble shooting as I have a second car to drive and I just don't want to take it in and get ripped off by anyone. I wasn't real happy after having the trans done last year.(All kinds of issues). Any ways any info on some diagnostic companies would be of great help.
Does the tranny have a warranty? You can have it scanned at any tranny shop, usually for free.
Checking the fluid level shouldn't be difficult to read. You need to be sure it has the proper amount. Too much or too little will cause slow shift problems.
