Question Starting problem still there

My 91 7.3 will still give me problems starting. I disconnected and plugged the fuel line running from #1 injector to the top of the filter housing. My starting problem got worse I had to get the jump box on it to get it started. I have read about installing a clear line to check for air in the line. Do I replace the line from the #1 injector with the clear line? Is it also possible that one or more injectors are leaking down? The truck does have 200K plus miles on it. This is really a frustrating problem and winter time is coming. I have already replaced all of the leak off tees and o-rings and the lifter pump with a Carter pump. I don't want to throw money at a problem that is still not fixed. Some pics would help if there any available. Also would plugging the fuel return line at the rear of the block also help?

So does it still do the start and die, then take a lot of cranking to get fired up?

If you have an electric pump on it I would reconnect the filter return line.
The electric pump will push the air out of the fuel filter that way.

Exactly how is it acting when you try to start it now?

It would just turn over and not fire. I bled the schrader valve and the flow was half what it has been. the lifter pump I have now is a mechanical one. I wanted an electric pump but I could not find one locally. I am going to work today and put the truck on a lift to see if possibly a fuel line in leaking.

I had the same problem. I had to replace the o rings and all the return lines. Dont forget about the one that runs under your glow plug controller. My fuel filter it self was also leaking so i replaced it. After that i had no more air in the lines. Another thing i found quite usful was a small electric pump that you can tie into your fuel line. I put one right after the fuel selector. I control it with a self reseting toggle switch in the cab. Ive run my truck out of fuel the other day so i hit the switch for about 45 seconds, turned the key, and away she went.

What brand of fuel pump did you get? When you say reseting toggle is that a momentary on switchor a timed switch? I take it the pump is only used when needed instead of constant duty.
